2 Legendary Martial Arts Secrets of Quách Tĩnh
In Hoa Sơn, during the third time he ascended, Quách Tĩnh was hailed as one of the martial arts legends, known as “Bắc Hiệp”. His martial prowess is often compared to Bắc Cái Hồng Thất Công, with no less formidable reputation. Among the famous martial artists of that era, Dương Quá and Chu Bá Thông were considered his equals, while Đệ Đông Tà and Nam Đế could only be mentioned as slightly inferior.
According to Sohu news, not every martial artist could effectively use their skills on the battlefield. However, the martial arts techniques like Hàng Long Thập Bát Chưởng, Âm Nhiên Tiêu Hồn Chưởng, and Đả Cẩu Bổng Pháp, though powerful, only helped skilled fighters deal with a few forgettable soldiers; they merely aimed to repel the Mongol army, which was no small feat.
However, Quách Tĩnh possessed two divine skills that allowed him to advance or retreat at will.
The first is Đàn Chỉ Thần Công, passed down from Hoàng Dược Sư, and he trained to a level surpassing even the master. Therefore, if Dương Quá could use it to kill the Mongol Khá, then Quách Tĩnh could certainly do so as well.
The second is Thượng Thiên Thể. This is a legendary lightness skill of the Toàn Chân sect. When Quách Tĩnh found himself surrounded by the Mongol army outside the city of Tưỡng Dương, he seemingly had no way to escape but used this technique to ascend the walls, demonstrating internal strength and martial prowess that left the soldiers both inside and outside the city astounded. With this incredible skill, it would be trivial for Quách Tĩnh to lead his companions out of the city.
Quách Tĩnh and Hoàng Dung were both brilliant but not foolish. They understood that dying at Tưỡng Dương was meaningless; only survival could allow them to seize the opportunity to defeat the Mongols. Therefore, they devised a plan in Thiên Đồ Long that was put into action.
Utilizing Huyền Thiết Trạng Kiếm, the tools used to conceal their identities were crafted from a rare metal to penetrate the walls of Thiên Kiếm and Đồ Long. Later, they concealed the identities of Cửu Âm Chân Kinh and Vũ Mục Di Thư in the Đồ Đảo Hoa. Subsequently, they concealed vital information regarding the hidden identities of these treasure maps within Đồ Long, finally handing over this critical information to Quách Phá Lỗ and Đồ Long for Quách Tương.
Looking from the outside, this plan was quite perfect, but “the person behind it could not be so simple.” However, how could they ensure that the person afterward could possess both the two treasure maps and that the swordsman was the main figure? Moreover, if someone were to discover the treasure map on Đảo Đào Hoa before the hidden identity in Đồ Long was revealed, what then?
Quách Tĩnh and Hoàng Dung could not foresee the future. To ensure that the plan unfolded smoothly, there was only one way, which was to survive to witness the outcome. Therefore, they had reason to live.
Beside Quách Phá Lỗ, the guardian of Đồ Long also rose from the Tưỡng Dương with his father. Quách Tương, if it were not for the day of the dark night of Tưỡng Dương, would have likely been hard-pressed to escape death.
In this case, there was only one explanation: that within Tưỡng Dương City, there were hidden spies. But who were they?
3 Potential Spies Contributing to the Death
The first person who might have been Quách Tĩnh’s spy is An phủ sứ Lữ Văn Độc.
This individual, despite holding the title of An phủ sứ, was actually a mere thief. When the Mongol army attacked, the appearance of this spy made Quách Tĩnh extremely furious.
Originally written in the story: “An phủ sứ Lữ Văn Độc saw the situation was critical, knowing he could not stay quiet, and in panic, he appeared before Quách Tĩnh, shouting: ‘Quách… Quách đại hiệp, we could not stay here any longer, we… let’s escape to the South!’ Quách Tĩnh sternly replied: ‘Why is An phủ sứ speaking such nonsense? If Tưỡng Dương still stands, we still stand. If Tưỡng Dương falls, we fall!’
Hoàng Dung also exclaimed: “The one who keeps insisting on fleeing now, we will definitely have to face the consequences!”
After Quách Tĩnh was furious, he would not hesitate to retreat or regain his spirit, but only focus on the goal.
Written: “Under the Tưỡng Dương walls, fierce battles were taking place. An phủ sứ Lữ Văn Độc dared not approach the city, despite being heavily armed, keeping close to the two young ladies, trembling under the tension of the situation.”
Such a situation clearly illustrates the chances to betray Quách Tĩnh.
Besides Lữ Văn Độc, alongside Quách Tĩnh, there were two other suspicious identities, namely Đại Võ and Tiểu Võ.
Furthermore, the connection with the details in the Đồ Long Ký, near as they seem, could definitely involve Đại Võ and Tiểu Võ being spies. If they could not escape from Tưỡng Dương, how could they possibly overthrow the alliance?
In fact, the essence of Đại Võ and Tiểu Võ has already been evident. Years ago, when Hoàng Dung followed these two individuals, they were mentioned in connection with Kim Luân Pháp Vường pursuing them.
Written: “Only saw a name of a Mongol soldier rushing in front of Hoàng Dung, saying bluntly: ‘Go faster, what are you waiting for?’ As he spoke, he waved his arms, treating her as if she were a servant… The elder brother had to remind: ‘Be careful, we are on high alert; do not let down your guard.’
From here, it can be seen that these two suspects could be betrayers, and the possibility of Quách Tĩnh’s betrayal could arise.
Nonetheless, Quách Tĩnh and Hoàng Dung were perfectly capable of having retreated amidst the battle. But if there were spies, it could very well be Lữ Văn Độc connecting with Đại Võ and Tiểu Võ, plotting against Quách Tĩnh, leading to his demise, along with Hoàng Dung and Quách Phá Lỗ at Tưỡng Dương.
