According to Sohu, the horror movie genre is considered a booming film category that consistently delivers impressive box office revenue for Hong Kong (China) filmmakers. Star actress Thư Kỳ has participated in two works belonging to this genre, namely Heavenly Curse 2 and Ghosts. During the filming process, many eerie supernatural phenomena occurred, causing Thư Kỳ and the film crew to feel unsettled.
While shooting the film Ghosts (2000) directed by Hứa An Hoa, Thư Kỳ also encountered quite disturbing phenomena. It is reported that the film was shot at a famous haunted location that is notably isolated and far from the residential areas of Hong Kong. This site is among the top 10 most creepy filming locations in Hong Kong. There have been reports that many years prior, at this very house, a woman and her daughter had committed suicide. Since then, not a few people have chosen to enter this haunted house without knowing the full extent of its dark history.
In one scene, the character played by Thư Kỳ was dressed elegantly, creating a stunning visual. However, after finishing the shoot, the actress and the director checked the footage of the completed scene and discovered that Thư Kỳ’s face had been edited to be dark from the very beginning. The film crew initially thought it was a technical error, as they had seen the footage being filmed earlier, but upon review, they found no trace of the film in the camera.
As a result, director Hứa An Hoa had to focus on the filming and ensure that everyone involved was well-prepared. The entire crew was also concerned about ensuring the film could continue filming smoothly.
On another occasion, when Thư Kỳ starred in the film Heavenly Curse 2, the actress faced a particularly significant scene. The director had set up seven cameras to capture the best angles. However, after completing the shoot and reviewing the footage, everyone discovered that all seven cameras had captured the same image. The director then had to focus on the filming process while Thư Kỳ had to sit down to calm herself.
Thư Kỳ is a symbol of beauty in the Chinese film industry. Since the late 1990s, she has captivated filmmakers with her talent. She has received numerous accolades and has roles in productions such as Color of Woman, The Wind and the Cloud: The Heavenly Blessing, The Watcher, The Mover, etc. Since then, Thư Kỳ has captured the hearts of audiences and has become a top star in the Chinese entertainment industry.
With her relentless efforts, this talented actress has garnered two Golden Horse Awards in her hometown of Đài Loan and three Hong Kong Film Awards, as well as participating in the jury of the Berlin International Film Festival (2008), Cannes Film Festival (2009), and Venice Film Festival (2023).
