Jujutsu Kaisen has dedicated its final chapters to wrapping up unresolved plotlines before the series concludes at the end of this month. The latest chapter reveals the collapse of the top clans within the Jujutsu society. The world of Jujutsu Sorcery in Jujutsu Kaisen has always been one of the greatest mysteries surrounding the entire series.
Now that the battle against Sukuna has ended, it is time for Yuji Itadori and the surviving sorcerers to return to normalcy as they recover from everything that transpired in such a world-shaking conflict.
The world of Jujutsu sorcery will continue to evolve following the events surrounding Sukuna, which had already begun earlier with the Shibuya Incident and the Death Game. However, as the sorcerer world is still being shaken, the previously dominant clans are facing turmoil as well. The latest chapter hints at an impending struggle for supremacy between the Gojo and Kamo clans, and it seems that everything is on the brink of collapse.
What Happens in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 269?
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 269 picks up after the battle with Sukuna, as the surviving sorcerers analyze everything that occurred. Each of them reflects on whether they participated in the fight or not, but at the end of the day, they are just grateful to be alive.
Subsequently, there is an explanation that more sorcerers could have survived if not for another clan monopolizing the Simple Domain for themselves. They achieved this through a binding oath known as the New Sound.
The New Sound is a contractual condition that prevents those who have not pledged allegiance from using the Simple Domain, as it is a hereditary pact. The New Sound was created to prevent this technique from leaking to other sorcerers, meaning no other sorcerers outside that clan could learn it.
Because of this, there was indeed a secret plan executed during the chaos with Sukuna. While others were fighting, Mei Mei tracked down the leader of that mysterious clan and assassinated him. This act was to elevate Kusakabe as the new leader of the clan, allowing the binding oath to be nullified. Mei Mei also had two other motives for doing this. One was because the current clan head intended to harm her brother. The second was to position herself advantageously for future financial gains.
Who Are the Three Major Clans in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Jujutsu Kaisen previously explained that the three leading clans in the Jujutsu world are the Zenin, Gojo, and Kamo clans. With Maki destroying the Zenin clan after the Shibuya Incident, only the Gojo and Kamo clans remain. There is a tease in Chapter 269 that these clans will ultimately collapse due to this shift (and even more so after Gojo’s death, as it will create a power vacuum).
The mysterious clan has attempted to leverage all these events to rise to the top of the Jujutsu world by increasing their number of disciples and consolidating their power within the sorcerer community.
However, as we have seen from Gojo’s actions in eliminating the top leaders before facing Sukuna, it no longer matters who sits at the highest position in Jujutsu society. This aspect has not been significantly clarified throughout the series, and it may not play a crucial role with only two chapters remaining.
The downfall of these clans will merely be another way for the old to make way for the new in this new era. This means there will be a brighter future for those who have survived through it all.
