The author of will soon introduce a new manga series debuting in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump.
While Yusuke Murata continues to work hard on each new chapter of the manga , the original web manga by ONE has not been active for quite some time. Although there have been a few new releases for the web manga on some unexpected occasions, the author ONE has focused his efforts elsewhere, collaborating on new manga projects in other series.
One of these is Versus, which has been published in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius since 2022.
And now it will be Bug Ego – a manga created by ONE, illustrated by Kiyoto Shitara (Shinobu! Chiyo-chan). Bug Ego first debuted in the pages of Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine in 2023. Although only two chapters have been released so far, Bug Ego has garnered attention from many fans of ONE’s work. This manga is different from ONE’s other works, featuring a very unique story.
Now, according to Viz Media’s announcement, the series has been officially licensed for English release and will be available in the digital Shonen Jump library starting this Monday, alongside many other Shonen Jump series currently available in the magazine.
What is Bug Ego?
Bug Ego was first introduced as a one-shot in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump in the spring of 2023, and was later confirmed to be published as a full-length series. Although the series has been active for about a year now, only two chapters have been released so far. Bug Ego has been confirmed to transition to a monthly release schedule in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine at the beginning of this fall.
Viz Media will begin releasing Bug Ego on Monday, November 18. The series follows a high school transfer student named Makoto Hitsujiya, who then meets a classmate named Takehiro Kokudou, who introduces Makoto to strange disturbances called “Bugs.”
These are strange events that only activate when performing a certain action, and eventually, the two students bond through their experiments with these Bugs. As expected, it isn’t long before both find themselves in a much bigger predicament than they could have anticipated.
