The Unique Traits of TCL’s Technology in Season 13
Introduction to the Meta
One of the most intriguing technology traits in TCL Season 13 is its ability to elevate champions to the highest rank – 4 stars. However, this trait is only applicable to champions that have a value of 1 gold, meaning it only benefits the cheapest units in the system.
Of course, if you can roll into names like Violet, Powder, or Draven, Lux, players can feel secure. But if the champions are other 1-gold units like Trundle, Steb, or Darius, players might feel a sense of impending defeat. Because before a champion can reach 4 stars, it may very well be that the game has already been lost.
Open Formation Strategy
With the emergence of 6-gold champions, as well as the potential to hit level 8, players can directly roll for 5-gold champions. Choosing this trait can allow players to add a new formation space—an advantage for early and mid-game, but they must be cautious as it may be difficult to roll for strong champions later in the game.
If players are currently using formations with cheap units (1-2 gold), choosing this trait is not much different from a “losing early” strategy. After all, in TCL Season 13, 6-gold champions present significant advantages. Meanwhile, 5-6 gold champions or even 3-4 gold champions (like Jinx, Zoe, or Viktor, Warwick…) also bring considerable variance and can even compete with a 4-star 1-gold champion.
Randomized Gains
This technology trait is ranked tier S due to the immense benefits it can provide to players. However, noteworthy is the fact that the strong outcomes are “random” and sometimes the champions may not synergize well with the formation that the player is building.
If a player wishes to choose this trait, especially in the mid-game leading to the end of the first round, they must possess good skills and be well-prepared to meet all necessary elements. In cases where the strong outcomes do not trigger too frequently, there may be formations strong enough to at least secure a top 4 finish after the match concludes.
TCL Season 13 Brings Many Variants
Not only are there technology traits, but one of the key elements—6-gold champions—also introduces a lot of variance that even seasoned players or complex systems can struggle to cope with. It can be said that Season 13 is not just a game phase but a point where players must truly possess the skills necessary to achieve high rankings.
