Solo Leveling is set to return to the big screen next year, and Season 2 has shared new insights on what to expect from the upcoming episodes. While there have been successful adaptations of Webtoons over the past few years, Solo Leveling is arguably the most successful and highly anticipated title.
Earlier this year, Solo Leveling officially launched its anime, adapting the first part of the series and achieving remarkable milestones. Consequently, immediately after Season 1 concluded, Solo Leveling quickly confirmed that Season 2 was in the works.
Now, Solo Leveling has provided the most specific update to date as it prepares for the 2025 release. During the Aniplex Online Fest 2024, Solo Leveling – Arise From the Shadow confirmed that the film will debut in January 2025, as part of the Winter 2025 anime series.

What is Solo Leveling?
Solo Leveling was originally created by Chugong as a webcomic, later adapted into the more popular Webtoon illustrated by Dubu. The story revolves around the main character Sung Jinwoo, who was once the weakest Hunter. In Jinwoo’s world, portals continuously open across the country, leading to dungeons filled with dangerous monsters.
Due to Jinwoo’s weakness, he struggled to make a living as a Hunter. He could only defeat the weakest of the weak monsters. However, after surviving a deadly encounter in a double dungeon, Jinwoo’s life changed dramatically.
Gaining the ability to level up his stats, Jinwoo began hunting more monsters, striving to become a Hunter who could stand among the strongest warriors. Throughout the first season of the series, fans witnessed Jinwoo’s evolution and transformation, to the point where he now stands as the strongest ever. As Jinwoo seeks to grow even stronger in the future, Solo Leveling will showcase his battles against even more formidable foes.
Solo Leveling – Arise From the Shadow is currently in production for its second season, where Jinwoo has evolved into the Shadow Monarch. He gains the ability to summon the souls of those he has defeated and commands them to follow his orders. This will be an essential advantage, allowing him to finally challenge the dungeon that holds the key to curing his mother’s illness and resolving his core issues.
The new season of Solo Leveling will bring back the cast and crew from the first season of the series. Therefore, the quality of the anime is expected to remain high in the next season. Season 2 has the advantage of diving straight into the truly engaging content, as Jinwoo is no longer weak. From now on, viewers can look forward to intense action scenes.
