Gen.G Coach Reveals the Most “Difficult Opponent” in LCK
After a period filled with numerous “bombshell” transfers and plenty of drama, the teams in the LCK have finalized their rosters in preparation for the 2025 season. This development signals a phase of readiness as the teams, including T1, Gen.G, and HLE, have begun to set the stage for intense competitions. In a recent interview with National Daily, Gen.G’s head coach, Kim, shared insights into the challenges posed by their upcoming opponents. Additionally, Coach Kim revealed the name of a surprising competitor that makes Gen.G the most challenged team in this pre-season phase.
“To be honest, DK is the team that creates the most difficulties for us during preparation. They may not be the strongest team, but they always pose significant challenges. The gap between our teams forces me to think a lot, yet we still need to be adaptable. Lucid is very good at using champions like Lee Sin, Vi, or Sejuani. On the other hand, ShowMaker has an extremely wide champion pool and is hard to handle. We once felt confident in our drafts, but then ShowMaker brought out LeBlanc or Twisted Fate, complicating our strategies. Facing such a team is incredibly challenging,” Coach Kim shared.
Gen.G’s Journey to Conquer LCK 2025 Will Not Be Easy
Reflecting on the recent transfer period, fans can observe that DK has significantly strengthened compared to last season. Alongside Lucid and ShowMaker, the return of BeryL adds substantial value, enhancing this team’s competitive edge. DK’s weak point in recent years has been the lack of a strong initiator, focusing solely on reliable mobility to secure victories against top-tier teams. BeryL’s return has been pivotal in addressing this key issue, helping DK to overcome challenges more effectively.
Not only DK, but other teams like HLE, T1, and the rising strength of BRO also keep Gen.G on guard. This indicates that the competitive landscape in LCK is intensifying ahead of the upcoming 2025 season. It’s clear that Gen.G is no longer the dominant force as they were when they claimed the LCK Summer 2024 title. Coupled with the ongoing roster changes, the challenge of reclaiming the LCK title in the upcoming season is exceedingly formidable for Gen.G.
Looking at it objectively, Ruler’s return also helps Gen.G improve their tactical depth and flexibility. However, as other teams are rapidly strengthening, the opportunity for this team to reclaim the LCK title seems increasingly distant. It will take a lot of effort for Gen.G to maintain their competitive presence this season and secure a spot in the race for the LCK championship title.
