The anime program based on the long-running manga series by Eiichiro Oda will be temporarily paused for a few months. The hiatus of One Piece will conclude in April 2025, when the Egghead arc will continue on screen.
Meanwhile, the manga One Piece by Eiichiro will also take a two-week break.
The reason for this temporary pause is due to Oda’s travel to South Africa for the oversight and promotion of the second season of the One Piece live-action series. Nevertheless, Oda will also prepare gifts for his dedicated fans. During the manga’s hiatus, two events will take place: one is a gift distribution for fans on October 28, and the other is where the author will answer 10 fan questions on November 5.
Fans express their concerns regarding the manga’s temporary absence: “Outside of One Piece, if anyone reads any other long or indefinite series, they will see that One Piece is just too good. I hope Oda remains healthy, passionate, and creative so that we can have what we expect.”
Moreover, the live-action adaptation of the Fish-Man Island arc is also set to be finalized during this hiatus for the anime series, and is currently completing its production.
Instead of being released on October 27, 2024, the live-action version of the Fish-Man arc will now start on November 3, 2024. The reason for this change is due to the World Series event of Major League Baseball.
Though this is just a minor adjustment, it is significant as it means there will be no new One Piece program in the upcoming week, whether it be the manga or the anime.
This is indeed a rare occurrence for this franchise, as typically Eiichiro or Toei would do anything to keep fans engaged.
Prior to this, some fans commented: “One Piece is really under pressure from the Major League Baseball playoffs. But I understand, as the star pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers right now is Shohei Ohtani, a professional baseball player from Japan.”
