The VRX Conference in San Francisco showcased the latest virtual reality (VR) technologies, including new headsets, games and apps. Oculus presented its Oculus Quest headset, offering wireless freedom and high-resolution OLED display. HTC’s Vive Cosmos featured six cameras for complete tracking, a flip-up design and upgraded resolution display. Sony’s next-generation headset prototype offered improved display resolution and wireless capabilities. VR gaming titles Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, Battlewake and Vader Immortal were presented by Respawn Entertainment, Survios and ILMxLAB. Several new VR apps for training, education and healthcare were also highlighted, including a medical training simulator and an education platform.

VR Headsets

The VRX Conference held in San Francisco last week showcased the latest virtual reality headsets from major manufacturers such as Oculus, HTC, and Sony. Oculus presented their latest headset, the Oculus Quest, which offers complete wireless freedom with six degrees of freedom tracking, two touch controllers, and a high-resolution OLED display. HTC unveiled Vive Cosmos, which features six cameras for complete tracking, a flip-up design, and an upgraded resolution display.

Sony showcased their next-generation headset prototype, which is rumored to have a higher resolution display and wireless capabilities. In addition, other companies such as Pimax and HP also presented their latest VR headsets with improved resolution and field of view.

VR Games

The VRX Conference also gave attendees a glimpse of the future of VR gaming with several new titles presented by game developers such as Respawn Entertainment, Survios, and ILMxLAB. Respawn Entertainment showcased their upcoming VR title, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, which takes players back to the WWII era with intense combat and immersive storytelling. Survios presented Battlewake, a pirate-themed VR adventure featuring ship battles and sea monsters.

ILMxLAB, the immersive entertainment division of Lucasfilm, also presented their new Vader Immortal episodes, which puts players in the shoes of a smuggler encountering Star Wars characters such as Darth Vader and Yoda in a fully interactive VR experience.

VR Apps

VRX Conference also highlighted several new VR apps designed for training, education, and healthcare. VR Health showcased their medical training simulator, which allows healthcare professionals to practice procedures in a realistic and safe virtual environment. EON Reality presented their VR education platform, which enables students to learn in a more engaging and interactive way.

Other VR apps presented at the conference included Mindesk, a 3D modeling tool for industrial designers, and Gravity Sketch, an intuitive VR design tool for architects and product designers.
