Infinity Nikki – The Gacha Masterpiece Rising to the Top
If you have been following the previous posts on GameK, you are probably already familiar with Infinity Nikki at this current stage. However, for those who are not yet acquainted, this game is one of the most anticipated Gacha masterpieces expected to launch by the end of 2024.
Recently, Infinity Nikki is the fifth installment in the Nikki game series developed by Papergames. This game belongs to the role-playing and adventure genre, bringing new experiences, especially with the introduction of a “fashion” element that is highly appealing. Additionally, this game has attracted a lot of attention from gamers around the world.
Before its release, the game had over 30 million pre-registrations and topped the free app charts in 34 regions. According to DataEye, Infinity Nikki achieved a revenue of 30.716 million CNY (approximately 108 thousand USD) in its first week.
However, Is Infinity Nikki Really a “Blockbuster”?
Overall, despite its impressive launch performance and revenue, Infinity Nikki is currently facing significant issues in the domestic gaming market (China). The main reason for this seems to stem from excessive optimization that has negatively impacted gameplay. Prior to its launch, Papergames had promoted the game heavily, emphasizing the stunning Unreal Engine 5 graphics. However, aside from the PC version, the mobile versions seem to lack the “smooth” experience, leading to poor graphics and lag…
Secondly, Infinity Nikki significantly limits the player’s exploration capabilities, even though it is marketed as a role-playing adventure game. In this game, the main character cannot climb or jump (they can only climb if the terrain allows them to). Furthermore, players may find themselves stuck in the water if they accidentally fall in. Although the game features stunning graphics, its repetitive gameplay and lack of creativity have left many players disappointed after their experience.
Additionally, it can be said that Infinity Nikki is still too “generic” to truly stand out as a groundbreaking role-playing game. When compared to “giants” in the genre like Genshin Impact or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it is clear that Infinity Nikki still falls short in many aspects.
In summary, while Infinity Nikki has had a spectacular launch, the game is increasingly showing signs of “fading away.” Certainly, Papergames will need to make significant improvements in the future for this game to “survive” before other powerful titles are released.
