SGP Suffers Defeat, Liên Quân Fans Left Disheartened
Recently, Saigon Phantom (SGP), the final representative of Liên Quân Vietnam, officially had to bid farewell to the AIC 2024 tournament. This is a significant and disappointing defeat, as the team labeled “the strongest” in AOG faced a crushing defeat against GCS in the group stage.
“The home team is picking the wrong time,” continues to trend across various platforms following this disappointing loss. Meanwhile, they must recover quickly as they prepare to face BMG, the top team in the league.
Adding to the pressure, Neil and the team suffered a 0-2 defeat against Super Heavy, the so-called “favorite” team in AOG. As a result, BMG’s decisive 4-1 victory in the previous match against SGP left the Liên Quân fans unable to accept the reality.
Last year, AIC 2023 was also held in Vietnam, and the early exit of local representatives has raised concerns about the state of affairs. Just one year later, Liên Quân Vietnam is facing numerous challenges, and this time, SGP has been eliminated earlier than expected.
Is Liên Quân Vietnam Facing a Continuous Downward Trend?
SGP’s defeat at AIC 2024 is not just a setback for one team but serves as a warning sign for the entire Liên Quân Vietnam scene. Once a beacon of hope in the AOG region, SGP’s struggle is now a reflection of the challenges faced by all domestic representatives under the national spotlight.
To change the situation, there is a need for all teams and the AOG system to undergo significant transformations. Investing in training to develop talent, improving strategies, and learning from other regions are essential steps moving forward. Although this defeat is a major setback, it also serves as a critical opportunity for Liên Quân Vietnam to reflect and seek new directions for a stronger comeback in the future.
