Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular anime and manga series in recent times. Although the manga concluded in September 2024, the anime continues to have exciting content for fans. Season 3 is currently in production, and the first teaser image has just been revealed.
As part of several announcements by Shueisha at Jump Festa 2025, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 has revealed some anticipated details. This season is expected to be one of the most exciting anime seasons to date.
Season 3 will adapt the Extermination and Perfect Preparation arcs featuring Itadori, along with the highly anticipated Culling Game arc from the manga. We will follow Yuji and his friends as they navigate the aftermath of the Shibuya incident.
However, before Season 3, fans will get to experience a movie about Gojo’s past. The film is set to be the first episode of Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, where we will follow Gojo during his high school years.
The announcement was made during Jump Festa 2025 with an official image. The film is scheduled to premiere in Japan on May 30, 2025. While the global release date has not yet been announced, we can expect an update around the time of its release in Japan.
What Happens in Gojo’s Past Arc in Jujutsu Kaisen?
The film takes us back 12 years when Gojo was a second-year student at Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical School. He and Geto were the only special grade sorcerers there and were considered “the strongest duo.” Despite their often playful rivalry, both had complete faith in each other’s abilities. Gojo was born into the prestigious Gojo family and is known as the wielder of the Six Eyes. Master Tengen, a jujutsu sorcerer, was tasked with protecting important locations at the school by strengthening barriers and ensuring the safety of Riko Amanai, a Star Plasma Vessel.
About thirty years later, a Star Plasma Vessel was born, someone who could merge with Master Tengen and help him maintain stability. However, Riko had a price for her life, as one of her conditions would make Tengen unstable. Thus, Gojo and Geto had to ensure Riko was delivered to Tengen safely. However, every attempt turned dire when Toji Fushiguro intervened due to Riko’s life-threatening condition.
