Emotional Farewell from the Champion of the 2024 World Championship
As the end of 2024 approaches, it’s not just the LCK or VCS that are experiencing significant changes; the LPL is also witnessing numerous roster changes. For instance, JD Gaming is on the verge of a complete overhaul, with two star players from Korea, Kanavi and Ruler, potentially departing. However, the champion of the World Championship 2017, Ruler, has made some statements that have left LPL fans feeling particularly emotional.
“Living in a foreign country comes with many challenges. It’s not just about language barriers; cultural differences and adapting to local cuisine are significant hurdles. When I am not on stage, I often feel like I am doing nothing, just staying in my room. The time I spent in LPL felt like I was living in a bubble. However, I am still grateful for what I have achieved. I would rate my experience a 9.5 out of 10. Besides, I feel like I have become more sociable,” Ruler shared.
Ruler’s time in LPL has been quite significant. However, 2024 has proved to be a challenging year for this team as well as for JDG. The competition in the international arena has become increasingly intense, and JDG may not be able to participate in any international events. Although Ruler has the potential, the teams surrounding him have not been able to shine as brightly compared to previous seasons.
LPL Fans React to Ruler’s Statements
In comments shared on social media platform Hupu, many LPL fans expressed their emotional reactions to Ruler’s statements. “If the food is not suitable, how can we expect someone to feel comfortable here compared to Korea?” one user remarked.
Another fan noted, “I can understand his perspective regarding the environment and culture. However, when it comes to food, the adjustment is quite significant.” Nonetheless, there were also opinions that defended Ruler, suggesting that “he is just an outsider and cannot demand too much.”
However, it is evident that Ruler has had a fulfilling experience during his time in LPL. The possibility of returning to the LCK suggests that this chapter of his career might come to an end soon, while LPL and JDG will only be a memorable part of Ruler’s journey.
