The Antagonists in Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen features a powerful lineup of antagonists. From the omnipotent and malevolent Sukuna to the grotesque Mahito, each character significantly contributes to the story. However, it is Kenjaku who truly embodies the horror of the series, orchestrating numerous impactful events in the plot.
Kenjaku not only took over Geto’s body and cursed powers but also is the reason Gojo was imprisoned in the Prison Realm during the Shibuya Incident and the Culling Game arcs. Furthermore, he is the ancestor of the Death Paintings and Yuji.
The Fate and Final Actions of Kenjaku in Jujutsu Kaisen
Despite his significant impact on the storyline, Kenjaku’s conclusion is greatly disappointing. In the Shinjuku Showdown arc, as Sukuna battles Gojo, Kenjaku chooses Takaba as his opponent. This leads to one of the silliest fights in Jujutsu Kaisen, ending with the death of a “comedian.”
Before Kenjaku could savor his victory over Takaba, he was swiftly taken down by Yuta, marking the end of his role in the story. Kenjaku previously mentioned that his will would be inherited as it had been passed on to Sukuna. His task was to complete the merger between Tengen and humanity.
After Kenjaku’s death, his contingency plan was activated, and a new rule was added to the Culling Game. According to this rule, the merger is now controlled by Megumi, automatically granting control to Sukuna. Meanwhile, Tengen’s embryo has now been transferred to Sukuna.
These developments have left fans dissatisfied with the character of Kenjaku. Many fans have pointed out that his death was truly disappointing.
Moreover, Kenjaku’s transfer of control to Sukuna seems illogical, as he had only known the King of Curses for a very short time and had no reason to trust Sukuna.
Fan Reactions to Kenjaku’s Actions
Fans have commented on this: “I’m really angry that they replaced Geto (a character that was well-developed) with this disgusting character. Luckily, the funny guy wiped out all of Kenjaku’s actions, and I’m extremely grateful for that.”
“I’ve lived for 1000 years, but guess what? I don’t need to see the fruits of my labor; I just need to hand over the nuclear code to the four-armed guy I’ve known for 0.00001% of my life,” mocked another fan.
“The most ridiculous blunder in shonen history aside from Muzan, but slightly less impressive,” another fan agreed.
While Kenjaku’s story has concluded, the sorcerers still have to deal with the final antagonist. Throughout the arc, Sukuna has proven why he is called the strongest. But now that Yuji has unleashed his Domain Expansion, everything could change in the final round of Yuji’s battle against Sukuna.
We will witness that battle in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 266.
