Famous Streamer Expresses Discontent with T1 and Faker
In the closing days of the year, T1 and Faker have swept several categories at the League Awards – an award created by two prominent casters in the League of Legends community, Caedrel and Sjokz. The criteria for the awards are based on fan votes and votes from professional players.
According to reports, Faker won two awards for “Play of the Year” and “Male Player of the Year,” while T1 secured two awards for “Moment of the Year” and “Team of the Year.” It can be said that Faker and T1 have claimed the most valuable awards at the League Awards.
However, Caedrel – one of the founders of the awards – expressed his dissatisfaction with T1 and Faker sweeping all the major categories. In a segment (which has since been deleted) on his stream, the famous streamer stated, “T1 won 7 out of 19 awards at the League Awards, and their players collectively took home 10 out of 19 categories. They only missed the ‘LCK Male Player of the Year’ award to Chovy.”
Caedrel acknowledged that the immense support from T1’s fanbase significantly contributed to their success, and he stated that “Chovy or BLG deserved more because they maintained good form throughout the year.” Of course, Caedrel’s comments sparked controversy, leading him to release an apology clip afterward.
The Ongoing Controversy Surrounding T1 and Faker’s Awards
Over the past few years, awards like the League Awards created by Caedrel have consistently sparked debates. Not only have Faker and T1 been at the center of discussion, but even Zeka and DRX in 2022 faced similar scrutiny. T1’s performance in 2024 appears to be even stronger than in 2023. However, following their World Championship victory, their dominance in awards seems to be nearing a breaking point, with the primary focus now shifting to Esports Awards.
However, it must be acknowledged that for many fans, these awards only carry a sense of “prestige” after the conclusion of the season. Therefore, regardless of the discussions surrounding the official main awards and the performance of the teams throughout the year, the debates are bound to continue.
