Many fans of Dragon Ball have long wondered whether we would ever see Vegeta transform into Super Saiyan 3 in Dragon Ball Daima. For many years, many believed that Vegeta would never achieve this form, as he had already jumped directly from SSJ2 to Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue in Dragon Ball Super.
However, in a recent battle against Tamagami, the Saiyan Prince revealed that he indeed has the ability to transform into Super Saiyan 3, helping him secure a decisive victory over Tamagami. After facing a challenging math problem posed by Tamagami, Vegeta answered correctly, allowing the Z Fighters to acquire the second Dragon Ball. Unfortunately, obtaining the third Dragon Ball proved to be quite difficult.
Super Saiyan 3 Form Revealed
For a considerable time, the prospect of Vegeta achieving Super Saiyan 3 seemed like a distant dream. He had never attempted this transformation in Dragon Ball Super, leading many anime fans to jokingly refer to him as “the vegetable” for not having mastered this form.
However, as Bulma explained in the latest Daima episode, Vegeta had indeed been training to reach this new form, which left Goku astonished. Unlike Goku, whose transformation process was honed through intense training on the other world, Vegeta had to face unique and harsh conditions that made his transformation possible while he was still alive.
Now, as viewers have witnessed, Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 3 transformation looks markedly different from Goku’s. Its design also draws attention to the original concept of this form.
The original design of Super Saiyan 3 appeared as part of the “Dragon Ball: Super History Book.” In this commemorative book celebrating 30 years of Dragon Ball, Toriyama revealed his initial concept for Super Saiyan 3, which was intended to give Saiyans longer hair without it reaching down to their feet. With Vegeta’s new form, his hair is styled upwards, sharing many similarities with Toriyama’s original design for this transformation.
Of course, there is an important detail that remains absent from the original design: Akira Toriyama intended for Super Saiyan 3 to return a tail for the Saiyan. Ultimately, this change did not appear in Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball Daima, as we can see with Vegeta’s current transformation.
Many shonen fans have speculated that Daima could lead to events that are unexpected and could integrate into an official version of Super Saiyan 4. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, Dragon Ball Daima has clearly shown that anything could happen in this new anime series.
