Dragon Ball Daima has intrigued many anime fans in its initial episodes. For a significant time, shonen enthusiasts believed that the origins of Piccolo and the Namekians had been resolved.
Now, the Dragon Ball anime series has officially introduced the Demon Realm, revealing unexpected twists involving characters who once lived on Planet Namek. With Akira Toriyama still at the helm, there are several surprises awaiting Dragon Ball fans before he departs from this world. It is evident that Daima will create substantial changes for this long-running shonen franchise.
The storyline of Daima follows a direct consequence of past events, not only after the demise of Kid Buu but also following the death of Dabura. Once the king of the Demon Realm, Dabura was enchanted by Babidi and ultimately met his end at the hands of Fat Buu. When Gomah, the current ruler of the Demon Realm, learns about Dabura’s demise, he takes this opportunity to become the new sovereign of this realm.
In a surprising twist, Gomah reveals that the Demon Realm has its own unique Namekian chapter, opening up new paths for Piccolo and his origins.
Piccolo: The Demon King
In the original Dragon Ball series, the character Piccolo was often referred to as “The Demon King.” In the events of Dragon Ball Z, the Namekian was initially depicted as an alien from the planet Namek. In the premiere of Dragon Ball Daima, Gomah reveals that the original Namekian came from the Demon Realm. Thus, the green-skinned anime characters are indeed royalty.
Dende learns all of this from Gomah, who speaks to the young Namekian boy, emphasizing the importance of this truth. With the “ear to the ground” ability of Namekians, he should be aware that all things are indeed royal. Unfortunately for the latest Kami of Earth, Gomah and his allies have not ventured to Earth to form alliances.
The Namekian Creator of the Demon Realm’s Dragon Balls
Daima introduces an elder Namekian by the name of Neva, who is responsible for creating the Dragon Balls of the Demon Realm. Gomah and Makaioshin are aware that the Dragon Balls they possess bring “wishes to the dark,” or simply put, they can fulfill wishes with dire consequences.
Upon arriving on Earth, this elder Namekian immediately begins utilizing his power to gather all the Dragon Balls across the globe, even potentially rewriting history as it has been known. To ensure that the Z Warriors do not become new pawns in his game, Gomah hopes that the entire Z team will turn into “students of the first class,” establishing a new status quo for the anime franchise.
The next installment will focus on Goku’s adventures across the universe, and it is certain that he will set foot in the Demon Realm. With Gomah receiving support from his own Kaioshin and possessing the ability to challenge the Z fighters, it will not be easy for Son Goku to claim victory, especially as he is still considered a student of the first class.
