Last night (Vietnam time), The Game Awards – the biggest gaming event of the year kicked off with nominations in various categories. Naturally, after an incredibly successful year, the name Black Myth: Wukong was mentioned quite frequently.
However, fans of Black Myth: Wukong have valid reasons to feel somewhat dissatisfied with the way their favorite game has been treated, which seems a bit unfair.
Having experienced a successful year, Black Myth: Wukong has been nominated in four categories at The Game Awards, including Best Game Direction, Best Action Game, Best Art Direction, and Game of the Year.
This is quite impressive for Black Myth: Wukong – the debut blockbuster from developer Game Science. Nevertheless, there are still a few issues that fans of this game find “bothersome.” For instance, in the list of nominations for the best games of the year on The Game Awards’ social media, the event mistakenly referred to the game as Black Myth: Waking. Of course, fans of Black Myth: Wukong found some solace in the fact that the DLC for Elden Ring also unexpectedly turned into Shadow of the Eritrea instead of the correct title, Shadow of Erdtree.
Additionally, the prospects of Black Myth: Wukong winning the prestigious Game of the Year award are not very optimistic. Especially considering the numerous potential contenders, with notable names such as Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree, Astro Bot, and even Metaphor: Refantazio in the mix. Vietnamese gamers, who are fans of Black Myth: Wukong, have also expressed strong reactions to their beloved game even being misspelled at this prestigious award ceremony.
While it is understood that the chances of Black Myth: Wukong achieving Game of the Year 2024 are quite slim, there is still hope that Game Science’s creation can shine in the remaining categories. After all, the popularity of Black Myth: Wukong is undeniable this year.
