The trailer for Snow White, lasting 2 minutes and 24 seconds, is currently being shared across various social media platforms. According to Comicbookmovie, this version is presented by Disney Ukraine, with subsequent versions leaked on different platforms in varying quality.
Previously, Disney released a longer teaser, over one minute in length, on its official YouTube channel, which received negative comments criticizing the lead actress.
The new trailer showcases many scenes from the film, including Snow White’s first encounter with the seven dwarfs, her interactions with animals, the hunter’s mercy, her meeting with the prince, and her confrontations with the evil queen.
Below the video, the reaction from netizens regarding Disney’s live-action adaptation has been far from positive. Images of Snow White portrayed by Rachel Zegler have led viewers to compare this version unfavorably to the disaster that was Snow White and the Huntsman starring Kristen Stewart.
Comments from viewers include: “Get ready for the biggest box office disaster in film history this March,” “Can’t they find actors to play the dwarfs? Why resort to CGI?” “Who can believe that Gal Gadot (playing the jealous queen) is believable?” “I wonder why Disney didn’t post this trailer on their official YouTube channel? Maybe they fear a ‘dislike’ storm,” “This will be Gal’s best performance. Pretending as if she is jealous of Zegler’s looks,” and “These costumes look like they came from a Halloween store.”
In 2021, when Disney announced Rachel Zegler as Snow White, many fans called for a boycott of the film, arguing that the Colombian actress did not meet the standards to portray the “white as snow” princess.
In an interview with Variety on November 20, Rachel Zegler explained the origin of the name Snow White in her film: “This is a different version of Snow White, where she survives a snowstorm at birth. Therefore, the king and queen decided to name her Snow White to remind her of her resilience,” she stated.
The actress’s comments sparked a wave of controversy, with viewers criticizing her for altering the character’s name origin and misrepresenting the original story.
Rachel Zegler has faced backlash multiple times for her statements. Earlier, when criticized for not fitting the role, she responded: “Being Snow White doesn’t mean I need to lighten my skin to get the role.”
At the 2022 red carpet event, she asserted that her version of Snow White is iconic and not focused on pining for a man. She even pointed out flaws in the original 1937 version, suggesting that the prince “stalks” Snow White.
Fans of the original film criticized Zegler for being “disrespectful” to the classic animated movie, citing it as evidence that she is unfit for the role.
The film, directed by Marc Webb and Jared LeBoff, with Callum McDougall as executive producer, features entirely new songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Snow White from Disney is set to hit theaters on March 21, 2025.
