The manga Jujutsu Kaisen has concluded this year, and it’s safe to say that fans have been eagerly awaiting more since the very beginning. Unfortunately, the author has had to endure quite a lot regarding health issues, especially in recent years. This means that at this point in time, there are no major plans for Jujutsu Kaisen to continue. Nevertheless, there is always intriguing information about Jujutsu Kaisen for fans to explore.
Recently, a panel discussion featuring the Jujutsu Kaisen editor, Katayama, was held where he revealed which character Gege Akutami resembles the most.
Outstanding Characters in Jujutsu Kaisen
Fans have witnessed the author create a plethora of fantastic characters throughout the story of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Alongside the main character, other notable characters such as Megumi, Gojo, Nobara, and Maki are also quite prominent. It can be said that every character in JJK is noteworthy.
In reality, although JJK is a relatively short series, the characters could very well become some of the most famous figures in all of anime and manga. Fans globally have expressed their love for these characters for various reasons.
Additionally, there are those who see themselves in these characters and feel a connection in one way or another. Similarly, according to Gege’s interviews, there are some characters resembling the author’s own traits. One of the interviews even asked which character resembles Gege the most, and the answer was surprisingly unexpected.
The Character Most Similar to Gege
According to editor Katayama, the character most similar to Gege is none other than the strongest sorcerer in JJK, Gojo Satoru. This revelation may surprise many fans, especially when considering the discussions Gege has had about Gojo in the past.
In fact, many fans of JJK believe that the author has a slight disdain for Gojo. In numerous discussions I’ve seen on Jump, Gege has been noted to have a tendency to downplay Gojo or to hide him in one way or another.
Some fans have interpreted this to mean that Gojo is not overly fond of his teacher, but others believe that Gege simply enjoys Gojo because he embodies perfection. It could be said that the opposing opinions largely reflect personal biases. Gege certainly does not dislike Gojo and there is absolutely nothing wrong with openly discussing a character.
According to Katayama from JJK, Gege bears a strong resemblance to Gojo. Both characters are incredibly intelligent and possess innate talent in their respective fields, attracting the attention of others.
Q (2019): Does Akutami-sensei resemble any character in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Katayama (JJK Editor): Actually, I spoke about this with Akutami-sensei just yesterday. I think it’s Gojo-sensei. Akutami-sensei is really happy and awesome! Happy like the intelligent characters. Akutami-sensei has read a lot of novels and watched many films. Akutami-sensei is also very smart, just like Gojo.
There’s nothing surprising about knowing that the author of JJK has a keen sense of humor, especially in the way he writes compelling stories and intricate character concepts.
Based on Gege’s personality, the editors believe he shares traits with Gojo. In reality, it’s possible that Gege created Gojo based on himself. This could also explain why Gege often brings up discussions that center around Gojo, as he may see aspects of himself reflected in this character.
