The “All-Star” Lineup of LPL Sparks Controversy
Recently, the LPL All-Star 2024 awards ceremony took place to honor the achievements and contributions of teams in this region. With BLG dominating the LPL throughout the 2024 season, many fans believe that all five players from this team will make it onto the list of the all-star lineup. However, the actual outcome turned out to be different, as alongside Bin, Xun, Knight, and Elk, the player who received the honor at the LPL All-Star 2024 is Meiko.
This unexpected result has sparked significant debate among the LPL fan community in recent days. The reason behind this is primarily due to Meiko’s lack of notable performances during last season and not securing many major accolades. In fact, while representing TES in the 2024 season, Meiko ended the season without winning any awards. Not to mention, his tenure at TES was marred by disappointing performances, such as the 0-3 loss to G2 at MSI 2024 and an early exit against T1 at Worlds.
As a result, many fans were closely monitoring the results of the voting for the LPL All-Star 2024. They found it quite unreasonable that a player without any accolades, like Meiko, was selected for the outstanding lineup. Many recognized that Meiko was favored due to his popularity among fans and his reputation stemming from winning the World Championship in 2021.
Looking back at 2024, Meiko’s journey seems to be one of failure as he did not achieve any accolades or standout performances. Realizing this, he decided to leave TES and join a completely new team called IG. This transition to a team with many famous stars means that IG is viewed as the “super team” of the LPL, and the pressure on the players is undoubtedly immense.
Moreover, the strong teams in the LPL have substantial rosters, making it incredibly challenging for IG to claim the championship title. The competition will be fierce, and IG (including Meiko) will have to put in significant effort to prove their strength. If Meiko can perform outstandingly and help IG secure multiple titles, he could once again be considered the “Best Support in LPL” in the next season, which would be a remarkable turnaround compared to this year.
