The manga Jujutsu Kaisen has concluded with chapter 271, delivering significant emotional moments for fans. This manga, which is the debut work of Gege Akutami, gained worldwide fame after being adapted into an anime in 2020. While fans eagerly await the third season of the anime, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga is ready to release its final chapters.
Shueisha will publish volumes 29 and 30 simultaneously on December 25, 2024. However, this release date is exclusive to Japan, as there has been no announcement regarding a global release date. Typically, it takes several months for Japanese manga to be translated and licensed for international sale.
Jujutsu Kaisen will include an additional 16-page epilogue in volume 30, with new content for fans.
The announcement regarding the epilogue was made on the official X account of Jujutsu Kaisen, with character details revealed during Jump Festa 2025.
The supplementary epilogue will focus on Nobara, Yuko, Panda, and Uraume. Since this list includes characters who have appeared less frequently, it has sparked some criticism among devoted fans. This is primarily because the author has not utilized these characters to delve deeper into those beloved by fans.
Despite the less prominent names mentioned, it is certain that they are less compelling compared to exploring Gojo, Yuji, Megumi, or other significant characters. It’s clear that Akutami chose these characters because they have been overlooked in the main storyline. Jujutsu Kaisen has a rapidly unfolding narrative, often passing through numerous supporting characters, which may make the supplementary epilogue seem out of place.
Nobara Kugisaki is no longer a part of the story in the latter months.
The “death” of Nobara and her subsequent return have become pivotal points in the narrative. However, the implications of her absence have not been highlighted for several years, despite her being one of the main trio. She had to endure a severe blow from Mahito in chapter 124, released in October 2020. Her fate remained uncertain until the events of chapter 265, where her return was hinted at as she utilized Resonance against Sukuna.
Fans seem to have forgotten about her in recent months. Nobara’s return occurs too late in the storyline, leading to a lack of emotional impact when she reappears briefly. She continues to join Yuji and Megumi during the ongoing battle. After the conflict with Sukuna concludes, she should become Gojo’s successor and is aware of the mark that Sukuna has left, a person she had lost many years prior. Many aspects regarding Nobara remain unknown, suggesting that Akutami may have deeper plans for her character.
Yuko Ozawa is a supporting character with no direct connection to the Jujutsu world.
Yuko Ozawa only appears in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga during a single chapter. She is not a sorcerer and knows nothing about the Jujutsu world. In chapter 64, she witnesses Nobara and Yuji saying goodbye after a fight. Somehow, she managed to catch up with Nobara and inquire about Yuji. The two girls sit in a café, where Yuko expresses that she had to let Yuji go due to her own heartache. She used to be overlooked due to her soft demeanor, but Yuji has never looked at her with disdain. Now, she is tall and attractive, finally feeling confident enough to meet him.
She seems to be Yuji’s ideal type, a fact recognized by both Nobara and Megumi. However, when she is alone with Yuji, she cannot fully express herself and ends up leaving after a brief encounter. This highlights her role in the story. Although she may have created some lingering impressions on fans, she certainly does not compare to the more prominent characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Panda is overshadowed by other significant supporting characters.
Panda is one of the second-year students and does not have many memorable moments. His abilities are fairly standard, and he only appears sporadically, which does not leave a lasting impression. If there is one distinct aspect about him, it is that he is not a human sorcerer.
Panda was created by Masamichi Yaga, the principal of Jujutsu High, several years prior to the events unfolding in the story. This character has been raised by Yaga as his son. Panda’s combat abilities are not well-utilized, making him less relevant in battles against formidable foes like Sukuna. The conflict with Sukuna has dragged on for over a year, and Panda has been overshadowed by more involved participants in the battles.
Uraume is the least developed character in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Uraume is introduced quite late in the series, yet Akutami has decided to keep this character’s role hidden until the end of the story. Uraume’s battle with Hakari is one of the most anticipated fights in the narrative. Unfortunately, we only see this battle briefly, while the story has focused more on the sorcerers fighting Sukuna for many months. Ultimately, we only see him deciding to self-destruct after Sukuna’s death in chapter 268.
The only notable detail about Uraume appears in the final chapter, where we see a version of this character being attended to by Sukuna. This hardly confirms that Uraume and Sukuna have a deeper connection than what we initially suspected. However, even this ambiguous conclusion does not change the fact that Uraume has been relatively unimportant for the majority of the story.
