Riot Mortdog Shares Insights on TFT Macao Open 2024
By now, fans of Riot Games have undoubtedly heard the name Riot Mortdog at least once. For those who may not be familiar, this individual is the lead designer of Riot’s high-level games, closely associated with the community and frequently appearing at the League of Legends events.
At the TFT Macao Open 2024, Riot Mortdog is also one of the key members, directly involved in overseeing the event’s operations. In an interview with GameK, he shared many valuable insights, along with important information about the competition and the future development of the game. Let’s explore what Mortdog has to say.
Interviewer: What are your personal feelings about the TFT Macao Open 2024? Is there anything different compared to the previous Vegas season?
Riot Mortdog: The Vegas Open was our first tournament, and we learned a lot from it. There are many factors that influence success and failure, which is why the Macao Open has been improved significantly. We hope that future seasons will continue to build on the success of the previous ones to provide a quality competitive environment for players and fans alike.
Interviewer: Are these events reflecting Riot’s development goals and community engagement?
Riot Mortdog: Absolutely, our goal has always been to make League of Legends a global game. This is very important, and we want to not only listen to player feedback but also engage the entire gaming community. My job is to connect and ensure that all developers understand the unique needs of different regions, making League of Legends the best game it can be, distinct from other competitors.
Interviewer: There are many new teams being introduced this season, will they be taken into account for future tournaments?
Riot Mortdog: All new teams require a significant amount of time to develop. We want participants to feel engaged with the time and effort invested. Today (December 15) is the final day of the event, and Riot will also introduce a new game mode. Even the casters are unaware of it, and we want it to be a memorable moment that “only appears once in a lifetime,†taking place in Macao today.
Riot Mortdog Shows Affection for Vietnamese Fans
Interviewer: Who has the highest chance of being the champion this season?
Riot Mortdog: I have high expectations for Tittle, followed by YBY1, Milk, and Sologesang, who are the players I consider to be top contenders.
Interviewer: What is your overall assessment of the Vietnamese teams?
Riot Mortdog: YBY1 stands out quite a bit; he made a lasting impression at the BoxBox Bootcamp. Even placing in the Top 64 is a significant achievement.
When discussing teams from different regions, what do you think sets them apart? For example, take YBY1; he has performed exceptionally well with his innovative strategies and gameplay. Generally, Vietnamese teams have made a strong impression.
Interviewer: Recently, Arcane failed to compete effectively against Fallout. Many opinions suggest that this might affect the appeal and quality of the current season?
Riot Mortdog: In reality, neither I nor the Riot team are discouraged. Personally, I also do not place too much emphasis on this tournament. During the design of season 13, the team was very enthusiastic and wanted to convey the captivating essence of the series to the entire community, and we don’t expect anything bigger than that.
Interviewer: Can you give us a sneak peek into season 14?
Riot Mortdog: I can’t reveal too much about season 14 yet, but I can say that Riot has been experimenting and is actively developing seasons 14, 15, 16, and 17. I know for sure that the League of Legends will change significantly in the near future, and you will know soon.
Interviewer: Please send a message to Vietnamese fans.
Riot Mortdog: I want to thank all of you for joining us and experiencing League of Legends. I truly hope that Vietnamese players will continue to enjoy the new changes we create in the future.
