The user of ChatGPT worldwide has been unable to access the service for over three hours as of the current time. OpenAI, the company behind this popular AI chatbot, has confirmed the outage, stating that they have identified the cause and are actively working on a fix.
Not only ChatGPT, but this outage is also affecting Sora, the video generation tool from OpenAI, which has caused this service to also experience a significant outage. This information was confirmed by OpenAI on their status page and shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
At the beginning of this month, OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman revealed that the company’s technology has reached 300 million active users on a weekly basis. This latest outage occurred shortly after Apple released new software versions integrating ChatGPT for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
This is not the first time that ChatGPT has experienced an outage. In June, the service also suffered a disruption lasting over five hours.
Valued at $157 billion following significant investments from Microsoft and Nvidia, OpenAI has become a prominent figure in the tech industry since the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022. Currently, users are still unable to access ChatGPT, and the timeline for a complete restoration of service remains unclear.
