Attack on Titan: The Last Attack has officially premiered in Japanese theaters. This compilation film combines the final episodes of the anime and integrates them into a grand battle scene that is beautifully presented on the big screen.
Although The Last Attack lacks much new content, MAPPA has released a unique after-credit scene that will be added to the film. The after-credit scene of Attack on Titan: The Last Attack has been revealed to those who attended the film screening, and it may not be what fans were expecting.
The after-credit scene does not hint at the next installment of Attack on Titan but rather depicts a scenario where Eren Jaeger and the Scout Regiment are living.
According to initial reports from social media users who watched the film, the after-credit scene of The Last Attack delves into the world of “Attack on School Castes.”
This film project has previously imagined the members of the Survey Corps (the scout regiment) as high school students, showcasing their daily lives and interactions. In the after-credit scene, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin from Attack on School Castes discuss the film in a short period, providing a positive review before leaving the theater.
What is Attack on School Castes?
Attack on School Castes is a creative project by Hajime Isayama, the author of Attack on Titan. Typically, they appear at the end of the manga chapters, offering humorous perspectives on all the heroes and characters from the original series.
The story revolves around the misadventures of Eren Yeager and his friends when they were still ordinary high school students.
If you missed the chance to see it, here’s a snippet from the dialogue in Attack on School Castes:
Mikasa: I think it’s great. It’s a long story but all the key points have value. The characters are also departing from their roles.
Armin: Yes, it’s true, the question hasn’t been answered by the fan sites.
Mikasa: I apologize, the dialogue from the protagonist feels too familiar for me to hear.
Eren: There are too many unresolved endings! I had predicted the conclusion of this story more than ten years ago; it’s a pity to have to say so.
Armin: That’s exactly what I think! The question doesn’t want to break the fourth wall, but it’s known that, in a good way, it’s well done?
Mikasa: Yes, well, there can be a chance to write a new chapter for us to self-interpret. Or it could just mean a simple ‘ending.’ Shouldn’t there be moments of awkwardness to connect with those with disabilities? Generally, at least that’s how I see it?
Armin: What does that mean for all the questions and my reflections? I’ve been waiting for this day for so long! Ten years ago! But Eren, what do you think?
Eren: I prefer to watch movies with two friends, so let’s go see the next part together.
What’s next for Attack on Titan?
As we won’t see the next installment of Attack on Titan in the near future, author Hajime Isayama is focusing on his life after retirement. This does not prevent the author from exploring his beloved universe, as recently he published a story in Attack on Titan: Bad Boy. This short story centers on the previous months of Levi’s environment and is written by Isayama himself.
