Dragon Ball Daima is the latest anime series that features a new storyline and characters created by the author Akira Toriyama. The first episode has introduced significant changes to the entire official storyline of the series, presenting a completely new universe known as the Demon Realm.
Although the Demon Realm has been a part of Dragon Ball since the early days of the manga, it has not been thoroughly explored in the same depth as seen in other anime adaptations. The initial episode of Dragon Ball Daima primarily focuses on the Demon Realm, introducing several new characters who will play crucial roles in the future.
Dragon Ball Daima Confirms the Emergence of Namekians from the Demon Realm
The most significant change established is the confirmation that Namekians originate from the Demon Realm. This revelation is quite logical, considering that Demon King Piccolo introduced himself as such in the original Dragon Ball manga, but this fact has been largely forgotten over time as it was revealed that Piccolo was part of the living beings on Planet Namek. Now we know that Namekians actually come from the Demon Realm with distinct characteristics.
This detail not only reaffirms Toriyama’s original idea regarding Demon King Piccolo but also has a significant impact on the Dragon Realm and its origins. Following this, Dragon Ball Daima introduces Neva, a Namekian who has created a dragon that belongs to the Demon Realm. This also implies that the magic of dragons is fundamentally demonic and closely linked to the origins of the Demon Realm.
Dragon Ball Daima and the Powerful Demonic Dragons
King Gomah and Degesu from the Demon Realm are currently utilizing the dragons of the Earth to fulfill their desires. When considering the abilities of these dragons, we can see that their fundamental essence differs depending on the specific conditions they are subjected to. Depending on the nature of the dragon, the effects of their abilities can be applied oppositely.
For example, if the dragon of the Earth is fundamentally a light-based entity, then the ability it grants could cause psychological shock if it is not accepted. Understanding this, King Gomah has sought to transform Goku and his team into a Level 1 Dragon, as this is not something that can be achieved easily. When the dragon from the Earth has been summoned, it has been observed that they are exerted under pressure.
This further clarifies that dragons have origins from the Demon Realm, as Gomah and Degesu have extensive knowledge about them. Although they may not know about the transformation of Shenron seen on Earth, they have ample information regarding the dragon Porunga.
If dragons truly possess the potential to be powerful demonic sources, then it is certain that this will raise questions about all the versions we have seen throughout the series. How does the Demon Realm influence when it is allowed to possess demonic items like this? And what does this imply regarding all the abilities that have been used for them? We may be heading towards a storyline similar to Dragon Ball GT in the future.
