As we know, most of the divine beings in Record of Ragnarok despise humanity and are eager to see it perish quickly. However, there are a few divine beings that do not share this hatred for humans. Who are they?
1. Heracles
Heracles is one of the first divine beings to express his feelings for humanity. He shows that he doesn’t want to lose, but rather strives to help humanity avoid extinction. This divine being even proves that his feelings are not mere coincidence.
This is not surprising, as in the past, Heracles was still a human, but he underwent a transformative process to become a divine being after drinking Ambrosia.
2. Thor
Unlike Heracles, Thor is not particularly concerned about humans. His focus is primarily on enjoying battles and having a good time with his allies. However, Thor still values the spirit of heroism.
He dislikes when people underestimate the sacrifices made by warriors, especially when it comes to humans. He even goes so far as to not spare Odin from criticism for similar reasons.
3. Susano’o no Mikoto
When it comes to respect, there might be a difference in perspectives among divine beings towards humans. However, in the case of Susano’o, he is the only divine being who not only respects humans but even considers them as his teachers.
Susano’o is known for having a significant role as the god in charge of the earthly realm, studying various forms of magic and mythology, including during the Bakumatsu period when the Shinsengumi existed. Therefore, Brunhilde even considers Susano’o as the most promising divine being regarding human potential.
4. Hades
Unlike Zeus and Poseidon, Hades is clearly characterized as having no resentment towards humans. He himself has stated that he only wishes to take revenge for the death of his brother. Despite this, Hades maintains a calm demeanor throughout the battles.
Hades even respects the Queen of the Underworld as both understand their roles as kings in the imagined afterlife. The ruler of the underworld also holds a significant reputation due to his rivalry with Poseidon regarding their respective dominions.
5. Buddha
In the case of Buddha, he represents the most unexpected aspect of divine nature concerning humanity. Initially, he is portrayed as a being who does not lean too much toward one side. However, by the sixth match, this divine being surprises everyone by switching sides from the divine to humanity.
To this day, he often takes open actions against divine beings, especially when Buddha does not respect his opponents, namely Loki and the Bishamonten group.
The attitude of Buddha towards humans is not surprising because Buddha shares the same origins with Heracles—both being beings who have reached the pinnacle of divine status from their humanity.
