In 1996, Pokémon Eevee was released and has increasingly become more popular over time. This Normal-type Pokémon is beloved for its adorable appearance.
In addition to its cuteness, Eevee is also famous for its unique evolution system known as Eeveelution. There is no other Pokémon with a more special evolution process than Eevee, as it can evolve into 8 different Pokémon.
The evolution variants have been continuously added in generations 2, 4, and 6, making it a prominent feature whenever updates occur. This has made Eevee a familiar face to many players.
Although Eevee can evolve into 8 different Pokémon, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new evolution process for many years. Recently, detailed information about a potential new evolution for Eevee has been revealed, which has fans buzzing with excitement.
This information emerged this week when Game Freak, the developer behind Pokémon, shared serious insights. Online communities discovered a 40GB folder containing assets and materials previously unseen related to Pokémon, which were believed to be from Game Freak. Fans did not take long to analyze the information, and it pointed towards a new evolution process for Eevee that had been shelved.
The new Flying-type Eevee evolution has been shelved in Generation VII
“After being informed that this design was similar to one created by a fan, we decided that the cost for the design [of the Pokémon] would be very high,” the document stated. “Unless there is a game where Flying Eevee is the main character, or if it has high value in the game, it will not be available. We might consider adding it at some point, but currently, that is not the case. We will hold off until we can confirm the importance of this new Pokémon.”
According to the information, the initial design for the Flying Eevee still exists but has not been finalized. This artistic work is in Game Freak’s office, so they could not disclose how it looks. If this information is accurate, Game Freak initially wanted to introduce a new evolution for Eevee in Generation VII, but this Pokémon has been shelved due to cost analysis.
In Generation VI, the world witnessed the introduction of the Fairy-type evolution of Eevee, Sylveon, which made a significant impact. To this day, it remains the latest evolution to join the Eevee line. Prior to Sylveon, Leafeon and Glaceon were introduced in Generation IV. Therefore, as you can see, it has been quite a while since Eevee received a new evolution.
Will we see a new Eevee evolution in Pokémon soon?
The latest information about Pokémon Eevee has left fans buzzing. Fandom has petitioned Game Freak for a new Eevee evolution since the end of Generation VI, and although there may be additional content for Generation VII, we are currently facing a wait for Generation X, and we have yet to receive any updates. With the potential abundance of Eevee species, selecting one evolution type for a new Flying-type is hard to understand, but Game Freak is confident in their choice to maintain the character’s integrity.
Fortunately, the upcoming update seems to align with Eevee’s overall character design. The documents suggest that Game Freak has opened the door for a Flying Eevee evolution, but its current design needs to be refined. The evolution process could potentially emerge in the future, and of course, there are many other evolution processes of Eevee yet to be explored. From Generation II to Generation IX, there are still many forms that Eevee has not yet encountered. However, with this latest intriguing information, it is possible that a Flying-type Eevee could soon enter the Pokédex.
