Since its initial introduction in One Piece, the concept of Haki has played a crucial role, becoming more significant than the mere strength of evil villains. It is one of the most powerful abilities within the story and is essential for characters to achieve their goals and discover treasures in One Piece.
Currently, Haki is divided into three different types: Armament, Observation, and Conqueror’s Haki. Among these, Conqueror’s Haki is regarded as the strongest, and only a few individuals can possess it.
But what if there is another type of Haki that Eiichiro Oda has kept hidden? Numerous fan theories suggest a deeper perspective on a different type of Haki that could completely alter the narrative of One Piece. According to a recent theory, Oda may have hinted at a significant type of Haki that could be referred to as Kaze no Kokyuu.
Each One Piece Arc Focuses on a Different Type of Haki
According to a theory shared by @thatonepiecetalk on Instagram, many major arcs in One Piece focus on a specific type of Haki, sometimes showcasing its advanced forms. This way, Oda provides more details about the concept of Haki and explores the spiritual energy that can manifest the characters’ willpower in the story.
The first instance of Haki is observed when Shanks uses it to save Luffy from a sea king. However, following this, the strength of Haki is further developed through various arcs. For example, the main arcs like Skypiea and Fish-Men focus significantly on the concept of Observation Haki.
On the other hand, Wano and Dressrosa arcs focus more on the concept of Armament Haki. Moreover, these arcs provide some detailed information about the advanced forms of different types of Haki that can be used to enhance hidden powers. Therefore, it can be said that Elbaph may also have a One Piece chapter specifically revolving around one of the concepts of Haki.
Explaining the Fourth Type of Haki in One Piece
According to the theory mentioned above, the concept of Haki that Eiichiro Oda will focus on in Elbaph is likely to revolve around its expansion and release as a significant power. This idea has been subtly hinted at through the appearance of Dorry and Brogy in the Little Garden arc, where the two giants do not relent in dealing with the golden fish and the sea monster.
Dorry and Brogy used a defensive technique known as Hakoku Sovereignty to create pressure waves that could obliterate any intruders on their territory. They also utilized this technique once again when destroying Kid’s ship and assisting Luffy in escaping from Egghead. Although not yet confirmed, this technique appears to be related to Haki and will be elaborated on in the Elbaph arc.
This technique is quite similar to the one Zoro used when he cut through the structure of Onigashima using his sword. At that time, Zoro also utilized Armament Haki, which could potentially develop into a more advanced form of Haki focused on liberation and expansion.
If this situation arises, the perfect name for the fourth type of Haki would be Kaze no Kokyuu, which translates to “breath of the wind” in Japanese. It combines wind and breath to create a pervasive power, very similar to the defensive technique Hakoku Sovereignty and Zoro’s defensive technique in Wano.
