Fans of the manga series Hunter x Hunter are thrilled to see the beloved story returning to the West, as creator Yoshihiro Togashi resumes his work with a more consistent publication schedule. Although the recent announcement seemed promising, many sources reported on December 4, 2024, that the series would once again go on an indefinite hiatus after the release of chapter 410.
According to @TheHxHSource on X (formerly Twitter), there was a brief message at the end of the chapter that left many fans of this manga worried: “The next chapter will be published as soon as a decision is made.”
Despite Togashi having undergone surgery recently, there has been no confirmation regarding whether his health issues are the reason behind the decision to pause the series once again. At this point, there has been no official word from Shonen Jump or Togashi about when the series might resume publication.
The Hunter x Hunter manga has a tumultuous publication history
Despite the love and dedication fans have for Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter, the creator’s health issues have made it challenging to maintain a consistent publication schedule in Shonen Jump. The manga first began serialization in March 1998 and maintained a weekly release schedule until 2006. After the conclusion of the Yorknew City arc, the series has faced numerous hiatuses. Initially, these breaks were not continuous – lasting from several months to several years.
In 2018, the series underwent its longest hiatus, almost a year, before Togashi finally announced he would resume writing in October 2022. Although it has been disappointing for fans to see the manga pause repeatedly, what is crucial is that Togashi has the space and support he needs to fully recover and continue working with the best quality.
